ABOUT THE COMPANY

Who is Nona Lim?

Nona Lim is our founder and CEO. She is a former professional athlete and started the brand to offer clean, Asian-inspired foods to fuel a healthy and active lifestyle.

Where is the company based?

We’re proud to be based in Oakland, CA, and use local producers and purveyors as much as possible to make our products.

OUR PRODUCTS

Are your products gluten-free?

All of our products, with the exception of our ramen noodles, are gluten-free.

Do you use organic ingredients?

All three flavors of our premium line of bone broths – Shiitake Beef, Ginseng Chicken and Tumeric Chicken – use organic chicken and beef bones. We also use organic cane sugar, ginger and other ingredients that we source locally as much as we can.

How are the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew noodles different from the Laksa noodle?

The taste and texture of the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew noodles are different from the Laksa noodles even though all of them are made of rice. The Pad Thai and Pad See Ew noodles are made differently. They are made in a sheet (using rollers) and then cut into strips. Because of that, these noodles need to have a little oil to keep them separate so that they don’t clump together. The Laksa noodles are extruded (i.e. they are squeezed through a pipe with little holes).

Which noodle works with which broth?

You can pair any noodles with any broth which is great about our products. Be creative and have fun!

Where are your noodles from?

Our ramen noodles are made here in the United States. Our rice noodles are made in Singapore by a third-generation family-owned noodle manufacturer for the most authentic taste and texture.

Why are your products refrigerated?

All Nona Lim products are sold in the refrigerated section because we use temperature, not processing techniques, to keep our products fresh. We never use any preservatives, additives or suspicious hard-to-pronounce ingredients. Because of this, our products have better nutrition and flavor than shelf-stable products.

BONE BROTH

What are the benefits of drinking bone broth?

There have been a number of studies and article written about the benefits of bone broth and its healing properties. Bone broths are rich in protein, collagen and amino acids which can help:

  • Reduce inflammation and help muscle repair
  • Soothe and support digestion for good gut health
  • Support joint health, immune system and metabolic functions
  • Support a low-inflammatory diet

What’s so special about your Bone Broth?

We use organic and grass-fed beef bones, and organic chicken bones which have NO hormones or antibiotics.

What makes your broth better than what my mom makes or what I make at home?

Convenience! This is as close as you’ll get to homemade from scratch without the labor and mess.

Are your bone broths Whole30 compliant?

All three flavors of our premium line of bone broths – Shiitake Beef, Ginseng Chicken and Tumeric Chicken – meet all Whole30 standards. In addition, they are also keto diet and paleo-friendly!

HOW TO COOK

How do I cook your broth?

Our broths are ready-to-eat, no need to add water to dilute.

Pouches: Open pouch, pour broth into a small pot and bring to a simmer. Serve with noodles and toppings.

Heat & Sip Cups: For refrigerated cups: Shake contents in cup. Remove lid and plastic seal underneath. Replace lid and microwave on high for approximately 1 min 30 seconds or until desired temperature. For frozen cups: heat cup in microwave until contents are hot. Sip and enjoy!

How do I cook your ramen noodles?

Bring water to boil. Add Nona Lim Ramen Noodles and gently boil for 1 to 2 minutes. Drain and rinse cooked noodles with cold water. Add your favorite toppings and Nona Lim broth. Our ramen noodles also work great for cold noodle salads.

How do I cook your rice noodles?

There are a few different ways of cooking our rice noodles. Feel free to choose the method you are most comfortable with:

  • Tear corner of the pouch to vent, and microwave it for 1 to 2 minutes
  • Put the noodles on a plate, and steam them for 7 minutes.
  • Place the noodles in a colander and rinse under hot water for about 1 minute, then shake to drain and to help separate the strands. Add to hot broth or stir-fry in a hot, oiled pan.
  • Loosen the noodles slightly with your hands and toss into the pan for stir fried noodle dishes.

SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE

What is the shelf life of your products?

If you purchased our products online:

  • Our Heat and Sip Cups and 20 oz broth pouches can last approximately up to 20 weeks (140 days) in the refrigerator and about 6 months in your freezer.
  • Our 12 oz soup pouches can last approximately 6 weeks in your refrigerator and about 6 months in your freezer.
  • Ramen noodles can last approximately 1-2 weeks in the refrigerator or up to 3 months in your freezer. Once frozen, allow the ramen noodles to defrost in the refrigerator prior to consumption.
  • The expiration date for the rice noodles are found in the package. Some customers like to freeze the laksa noodles. The pad see ew is more delicate and do not do well with freezing.
  • Once opened, we recommend that you consume your soups, broths, and noodles within 2-3 days or as quickly as possible to keep its freshness and optimal quality. Unconsumed products should be kept in an airtight and sealed container.

If you purchased our products from your local grocery store:

  • Shelf life is indicated by the “Best by” or “Sell by” sticker placed on there by the retailer.  If the sticker is missing, please ask the store where you purchased the product from.

What’s the best way to freeze your soup pouches?

While it is totally fine to freeze the pouches as is, we suggest opening and pouring the contents into a microwave-safe container, leaving an inch of head space to minimize freezer burns and and to accommodate volume expansion during freezing.

I left the soup/broth out overnight. Is it still safe to reheat for consumption?

You can reboil it for 10 minutes on the stovetop and it will kill off any harmful bacteria that may have germinated. We do not suggest microwaving if the soup was not properly refrigerated. Soups or broths left out for over 24 hours should be discarded.
